Tourist in my own City: A very Sherlock day.

So on Tuesday, I set off in to West London, primarily to get my phone replaced at the Apple Store in Covent Garden, but also to have a bit of an adventure!

So I jumped on the Piccadilly line at Oakwood and got out my trusty copy of American Psycho to read because I'm not cool enough to have a Kindle. I got off at Covent Garden instead of walking from Leicester Square as I usually do because it was about half 12 and a Tuesday, therefore I didn't expect it to be too packed, and I was right! The first thing I did when I got there was go and visit my friend James who is the manager of the Moomin Shop, aka the cutest little shop you will ever find! I then had a little snoop round and took some pictures before I plodded off to the Apple store for my Genius Bar appointment at 1:20pm. Safe to say I had a wonderful time as my 'genius' Will was the spitting image of Matt Smith and I fell in love with him almost instantly.

After having my phone replaced I went and had a cheeky little lunch at Starbucks- Venti Mocha Frappuccino Light and Mozzarella Meatball panini- then set off to have myself a little Sherlock Holmes adventure. Now, if you didn't know, I am absolutely infatuated with the whole Sherlock Holmes franchise, from Arthur Conan-Doyle's originals to Jeremy Brett to the Great Mouse Detective to the Moffat/Gatiss BBC series to Elementary. My first stop was North Gower street, the 'fake 221b', if you will. This location is used in the Moffat/Gatiss BBC series (aka the love of my TV life) and is recognisable from the cutest little cafe ever- Speedy's!

As soon as I saw it I did a little fangirl squeal and may have even shed a tiny tear (don't judge me). Here is a shoddy instagram picture of a very excited me, ft. Speedy's.

Ignore the glazed over eyes, I was having a moment. In case any of you would like to find North Gower street, the closest tube/train stations are Euston or Euston square, pretty easily accessible with only a 3-4 minute walk.

My next stop was the place itself- BAKER STREET!

Again, I couldn't quite contain my excitement and may have gone a bit overboard in the gift shop. However, it was wonderful and definitely worth a visit, whether you're a classics fan or even a new fan.
This is Hudsons, a cute little restaurant/cafe, obviously based around Mrs Hudson (not your housekeeper...)

And this is the Sherlock Holmes museum, whose address actually is 221b Baker street!
Finally, this is Sherly. I love him.
So that was my day! It kept a smile on my face and made me happier than I've been in a while, which may sound slightly lame, but I don't care. I think Tourist in my own City may be something I will expand on, exploring other parts of London and blogging about it. Let me know what you think!
