OOTD 29-04-13 - Pushing Daisies

Afternoon Lovers!

The sun may not be shining as much as it was, but that won't stop me! Today marks the beginning of my one week off from work. Wahoo!! Expect to be seeing a lot more outfit and lifestyle posts!

Today was spent mainly at Matalan with my Mum, as I love the new Papaya Weekend collection, cute midi dresses and skirts galore! Heaven! I shall post a haul in a bit.

This beautiful 50s style dress was my Summer 2012 staple item, and I'd be a fool if I didn't give it a second life!

Dress - Warehouse - £45
Loafers - Clarks - £75 (£13 at Charity shop... You know the drill)
Cardigan - H&M - £9

Love always,

Hearts and Gems and Smelly Cat

Okay. I'll admit it. I'm a serial eBayer. I can't help it, there's so many pretty things, at such pretty prices, I just can't help myself! So when I came across Hearts and Gems jewellery, I just couldn't help myself.
Click to visit their eBay store
Many of their items are described as 'urban', with lots of pieces emblazoned with crosses and tribal patterns, keeping up with the likes of Topshop, River Island and Urban Outfitters.

The main thing that caught my eye were the 'above knuckle rings' that I knew primarily from seeing them on Phoebe from Friends! Now if you know me, you will know that I am basically the real life equivalent of Phoebe, with many of my gigs ending up in a group sing-a-long of 'Smelly Cat'. Yes, really.

So obviously, I needed to have them. I chose one twisted ring and one plain. 2 days later, the little package arrived at my door. Very speedy, considering I bought them on Thursday night and they turned up Saturday morning! They were tied up in a sweet little organza pouch, filled with heart shaped glitter confetti. I squealed. A lot.

Here's how they look on me!

The rings themselves are silver plated, and fit very well. I was initially scared that they would fall off easily, but my worries have been put aside!

I would highly recommend having a look at their store. The prices are fabulous and the jewellery even more so.

Lush haul and review!

Okay, so I'm somewhat of a late bloomer when it comes to Lush, my first purchase only being in December! Shock horror! However, in that short time, I have become more than slightly addicted. Here are some very overdue and concise (some not-so-concise) product reviews of my latest haul.

Coffee time!

Well, not exactly. It's an earl grey for me as usual. However the point still stands! I'm with my mum and grandma in the Sainsburys cafe having a catch up and a natter, which is lovely!

I've also bought the May 2013 Company so I'll have a read of that and let you know my favourite parts later!

So- it's a beautiful day outside and I can't wait to get home and sit in the garden with my music, camera, magazine and cats.

Lots of love and sunny sparkles

OOTD 24-04-13 - Spring has Sprung!

Good Morning my Cherub Angel Flowers!

The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, my cat is writhing around on the pavement like the little minx she is... This could only mean one thing: SPRING TIME!

Today also happens to be my little Brother Kieren's 15th Birthday (oh deary me... wasn't I 15 like, 5 minutes ago?!) So I thought I would wear something a little bit more special for the occasion... Even though he's at School.

Dress - Dorothy Perkins - £30(?)
Loafers - Clarks - £75 (Charity shop £2... Bargain or what?!)
Watch - Guess - £159
Cheeky Cat - Priceless

LIONESS: HIDDEN TREASURES - AMY WINEHOUSE REVIEW

The sheer soulfulness, soft rock-steady beats and 50s/60s rock’n’roll vibes that come across in this album are things that I can compare to Amy’s earlier work, in the ‘Frank’ era. Opening with a true Winehouse-style cover of the Ruby & the Romantics song ‘Our Day Will Come’ sets the mood for the album which all in all displays Amy’s raw, beautiful talent, it’s just a shame that we have come to discover these songs after her tragic passing. Amy’s duet with Tony Bennett ‘Body and Soul’ presents a timeless spine tingling merge of two legend’s smooth-as-velvet voices. The album also includes re-workings of Amy’s more mainstream songs, ‘Valerie’ and ‘Tears Dry on their own’, the latter of which has been aptly shortened to simply ‘Tears Dry’ and has also had the tempo and chord sequences changed to create a sound that I can only liken to the music in the ending credits of a sad romantic film from the 60s. The song to look out for on the album is ‘Will you still love me tomorrow?’, an incredible song originally recorded by The Shirelles, teamed with Miss Winehouse’s powerful vocals, which you will not experience the full beauty and tragedy of until you hear it for yourself. If you happen to own a record player, I highly recommend purchasing the Lioness: Hidden Treasures LP as the whole sound and feel of the album just sounds magical when played. I guess people expect me to be somewhat biased when it comes to Amy’s music, but I can truthfully say that I adore this album, and I would still love it just as much having had I not had that connection with her. A well deserved five stars for this spectacular album from a tragically beautiful woman. Rest in peace Amy.

Meal time at Harvester!

What's better than a salad bowl at Harvester? Nothing. Well apart from a salad bowl at Harvester with your nearest and dearest by your side.

As a sort of leaving meal for our friend Chanell (she's heading back to Uni for her last exams) we decided to go for a little girly meal. Well, I use the term 'girly' loosely... We eat like pigs and swear like sailors.

It was lovely to see my girls again, it needs to become a more regular thing! Especially with those Rocky Horror ice cream sundaes... Mmm.

Blogging all the while...

My go-to option... The Chicken and Bacon BBQ Stack...
The Rocky Horror!!
